CCTV Camera Guide: Dome vs Bullet for Commercial Properties

Choosing between dome and bullet cameras for warehouses, hotels, and retail — what to look for and which Hikvision and Dahua models we recommend.

When planning CCTV for a commercial property in Tanzania, the first decision is usually dome versus bullet cameras. Both have their place — the choice depends on where you are mounting them and what you need to monitor.

Dome cameras like the Hikvision DS-2CD2143G2-I are ideal for indoor areas — reception desks, corridors, and retail floors. The compact dome housing is discreet and vandal-resistant. This 4MP model gives clear footage day and night with built-in IR up to 30 metres.

Bullet cameras like the Dahua IPC-HFW2431S-S-S2 work better outdoors — parking areas, perimeters, and loading bays. The cylindrical shape makes them easy to aim, and the IP67 housing handles rain and dust without issues.

For a typical 16-camera setup covering a medium warehouse or hotel, budget around TZS 2.5M–4M for cameras alone, plus NVR and cabling. We stock both Hikvision and Dahua and can put together a full kit quote.
