Which MikroTik Router Is Right for Your Office or ISP?
A practical breakdown of MikroTik models — from the hAP ac³ for small offices to the CCR series for ISPs — and how to pick the right one.
MikroTik is one of the most popular router brands among Tanzanian ISPs and IT teams — and for good reason. The RouterOS platform is powerful, the hardware is affordable, and the range covers everything from a home office to a national backbone.
For a small office with up to 30 users, the MikroTik hAP ac³ (RBD53iG-5HacD2HnD) is a solid starting point. It combines routing, switching, and Wi-Fi in one unit. At around TZS 195,000 it handles everyday traffic without breaking the budget.
Growing businesses with heavier traffic needs should look at the CCR2004-16G-2S+. This Cloud Core Router handles multi-gigabit throughput and is widely used by ISPs in East Africa. It has 16 Gigabit ports and two SFP+ uplinks — enough for a mid-size network core.
If you are running a hotel, school, or multi-site business, consider pairing a MikroTik core router with Ubiquiti UniFi access points for managed Wi-Fi coverage.
